 WHO:  ALL PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, FAIRFAX COUNTY (INCLUDING HOME, PRIVATE, CATHOLIC, MANASSAS, MANASSAS CITY)?

 

WHAT/WHERE:  Scholastic chess tournament @ Forest Park High School 15721 Forest Park Drive, Woodbridge, VA 22193. For directions www.mapquest.com.     

 

WHEN:  November 13, 2021       8:00 am to 3:00 pm

 

REGISTRATION:  Registration is accomplished by completing the form at: PWCSCHESS.ORG    Please follow all instructions on the form. You will get an auto-response e-mail when you submit the form. Deadline for registration is 6:00 pm on November 11, 2021. If you have problems with registration, please e-mail Nicole Largen at: chessclubmom@comcast.net before the registration deadline.

 

TIMES: Players should arrive and “check-in” between 8:00 and 8:55am.  1st Round will begin at 9:15 am. Late arrivals will miss 1st Round.

                 

SECTIONS: Primary (K-3), Elementary (4-5), Middle School (6-8), & High School (9-12)

 

 AWARDS:  Top Individuals and Top Teams in each section will receive trophies.

 Other players will receive medals or certificates.

RULES/PROCEDURES:  Time Control:  G/30. Touch move and other standard United States Chess Federation (USCF) tournament rules will be explained briefly at the start and will apply.  The top four scores of a school team will be used to determine the winning team.   Any student may enter and does not have to be part of a school team, but at least two students from the same school must participate to constitute a team.  No one is eliminated.  All participants are expected to play 4 rounds unless withdrawal is required for medical or other emergency reasons.  In each round student will play an opponent who has a similar record of wins/losses/draws within the section to that point in the tournament. Chess sets will be provided.

 

CONCESSIONS:   A ‘parent-volunteer’ food concession will provide hotdogs, pizza, nachos, and other snack food and drinks.  (Concession proceeds will be used to defray tournament costs.)
