Fall has arrived! We are all settling in and becoming a wonderful community of learners! The past couple of weeks, we have learned about being a quality student and what it means to be a good citizen. In social studies we have been studying about famous Americans, George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King, Jackie Robinson and Susan B. Anthony. In language arts we have been reading about what it means to be friends, and being comfortable with who we are. Along with the stories we are reading, vocabulary, spelling and writing revolve around the theme of the story. During the math block, we have worked hard with learning our doubles, and missing addends. We will have our first unit test next week.
Last week, we started homework with the spelling contract each week, which is sent home on Monday's and needs to be returned on Friday's. Students should also be reading each night for 15 mins. Parents, please sign the reading log each night and send it to school each day. Reading logs only need to be completed Monday through Friday. Please encourage your child to continue reading on the weekend!
I hope to see all parents at "Back to School Night" on the 28th from 7:15 - 8:15 p.m.!
Mark your calendars! Antietam's book fair is coming up on Oct 10th - 14th.
