Welcome to 4th Grade!
I think I am finally going to get this class webpage up and running. We coming to an end for our first IB unit planner and will be starting our new planner on Monday. Below you will find what we are doing in our class week by week, and listed by subject. I will also post study guides here and let you know when we will have upcoming tests.
Week of February 13-17
We have been moving right along with our reading groups and station work. Each student should be wrapping up with the novel that I assigned them. We have discussed the novels together in our reading groups. It seems that the students are enjoying the novels. We are focusing on Comparing and Contrasting and Cause and Effect during our reading time.
Fractions was a rough unit. The students appear to be catching on. We will continue to have fraction problems on homework to help the students review. I have been grading the math homework with the students every morning. We check the previous nights homework together. This is helping them to keep the older concepts already learned fresh. We are currently working on Probability and will be testing that on Monday. After that we move into decimals.
The students are truly enjoying Virginia Studies. They are actively engaged and wanting to learn more. We are currently in the creation of a new nation and our state government. They are learning many of the founding fathers and the documents they created. They are also learning about westward migration.
We have begun our unit on the Solar System and the Earth-Moon-Sun Relationship. Starting Monday, the students will have to keep a moon calendar page to track the phases of the moon.
